Summer Dinner tributes to founder
August 2011
Tributes to EOA founder Robert Oakeshott were the centrepiece of this year’s EOA Summer Dinner at the House of Commons in June. Margaret Elliott told guests how Robert, who died the week before the Dinner, had helped her set up Sunderland Home Care. Keynote speaker Jesse Norman MP recalled a twenty year friendship with Robert after being invited by him to join EOA’s predecessor board. John Lewis Partnership chairman Charlie Mayfield told the 150 guests that employee ownership had achieved unprecedented prominence, an opportunity that the sector must grasp. Principal sponsors of the event were PA Consulting – new trustee members of the Association – with supporting sponsorship from Capital for Colleagues and Bates Wells & Braithwaite.
